Met Club Dinner

Mayoral candidates Paul Massey and Nicole Massey attended the Metropolitan Republican Club’s annual dinner Monday night, with each speaking separately and then doing a joint audience Q&A.  Such close engagement has been very limited so far in the mayoral campaign, with Massey and Malliotakis appearing together just twice.  In just one of those joint appearances, at a candidate forum hosted by the Manhattan Republican Party, did they engage before the audience.

About 125 people dined in the ornate Women’s National Republican Club, enjoying dinner as enormous photos of Republican presidents stretched down the high wall.  Guests included State GOP Chairman Ed Cox, New York County GOP Chairwoman Adele Malpass, Queens GOP Chairman Bob Turner and 2013 mayoral candidate John Catsimatidis.  Republican mayoral candidate Darren Aquino also attended, but did not address the audience or participate in the Q&A.  Rep. Chris Collins, a House member from the Buffalo area and ardent Trump supporter, was the keynote speaker.  Collins would not permit recording of his remarks and they’re not covered here.

Malliotakis and Massey were given five minutes each for their speech, followed by an audience Q&A that ran about 20 minutes.
