Mayor de Blasio was asked about his late arrival several times at an unrelated afternoon press conference.  Additionally, his office put out a statement that “Mayor de Blasio traveled to the ceremony by boat this morning and the boat was delayed due to heavy fog.”  Here’s what he had to say this afternoon:

The service began with a moment of silence at the precise time of the crash.  Mayor de Blasio had not yet arrived, but the program proceeded without him.
